1 LET us, with a grateful mind,
Praise the Lord, for he is kind; Great his pow'r, his goodness great; Join his praise to celebrate:
For his mercies shall endure, Ever faithful, ever sure.
3 Wide he spread the heav'ns above, And enrich'd the earth with love; All his works his bounty share; Saints are his peculiar care : For his mercies shall endure, Ever faithful, ever sure.
3 He to us salvation brought, By his Son's atonement wrought; And his Spirit, freely giv'n, Seals to us the bliss of heav'n: For his mercies shall endure, Ever faithful, ever sure.
IGHT of those, whose dreary dwelling Borders on the shades of death!
Rise on us, thyself revealing, And disperse the clouds beneath. 2 Still we wait for thine appearing; Life and joy thy beams impart; Chasing all our fears, and cheering Ev'ry dark, benighted heart.
3 Come, and manifest the favour
Thou hast for thy ransom'd race; So shall we, exalted Saviour, Sing the wonders of thy grace.
4 Help us, in thy great compassion, O thou Prince of peace and love! Shew us all thy great salvation, Raise our hearts to things above. 5 By thine all-sufficient merit, Ev'ry burden'd soul release; By the influence of thy Spirit, Guide us into perfect peace.
O! he comes, with clouds descending, Once for favour'd sinners slain;
Thousand thousand saints, attending, Swell the triumph of his train: Hallelujah!
Jesus shall for ever reign.
2 Ev'ry eye shall now behold him, Rob'd in dreadful majesty :
Those who set at nought and sold him, Pierc'd and nail'd him to the tree, Deeply wailing,
Shall the great Messiah see.
3 Now redemption, long expected, See, in solemn pomp, appear ! All his saints, by man rejected, Now shall meet him in the air: Hallelujah!
See the day of God appear!
4 Yea, Amen; let all adore thee, High on thine eternal throne : Saviour, take the pow'r and glory; Claim the kingdoms for thine own. Oh! come quickly;
Hallelujah! come, Lord, come!
O! round the throne, a glorious band, The saints, in countless myriads, stand; Of ev'ry tongue, redeem'd to God, Array'd in garments wash'd in blood! 2 Through tribulation great they came; They bore the cross, despis'd the shame: But now from all their labours rest, In God's eternal glory bless'd.
3 Hunger and thirst they feel no more; Nor sin, nor pain, nor death, deplore: The tears are wip'd from every eye, And sorrow yields to endless joy. 4 They see the Saviour face to face, They sing the triumph of his grace: And, day and night, with ceaseless praise, To him their loud hosannas raise :- 5" Worthy the Lamb, for sinners slain, Through endless years to live and reign! Thou hast redeem'd us by thy blood, And made us kings and priests to God!"
LONG have we heard the joyful sound
Of thy salvation, Lord;
But still how weak our faith is found,
Our knowledge of thy word! 2 Oft we frequent thy holy place, Yet oft we hear in vain ;
How small a portion of thy grace Do our false hearts retain!
3 Great God! thy sov'reign grace impart, To give thy word success;
With pow'r on ev'ry careless heart Thy saving truth impress.
4 Direct and keep us in the way That leads to joys on high;
Where knowledge grows without decay, And love shall never die.
1 LOOK down, O Lord! and on our youth Bestow thy gifts of heav'nly grace;
And let the seed of sacred truth Find in each heart a fruitful place.
2 Soon to appear before thy sight,
Their vow and promise to renew, Prepare them for the solemn rite :
May they their hearts and lives review!
3 The cross, that mark'd their infant brow, May it a faithful emblem prove, That they shall keep that sacred vow, And walk as children of thy love.
4 Thy sons and daughters may they be,
Confirm'd and strengthen'd by thy grace; And, safe through life preserv'd by thee, In heav'n behold thee face to face!
LORD, dismiss us with thy blessing; Fill our hearts with joy and peace;
Let us each, thy love possessing,
Triumph in redeeming grace; Oh refresh us,
Trav'lling through this wilderness!
2 Thanks we give, and adoration, For the Gospel's joyful sound: May the fruits of thy salvation In our hearts and lives abound! May thy presence
With us evermore be found!
3 So, whene'er the signal giv'n Calls us from the earth away, Borne on angels' wings to heav'n, Glad the summons to obey, May we ever
Reign with Christ in endless day!
1 LORD, how shall guilty sinners dare
Look up to thy divine abode;
Or offer their imperfect pray'r Before a just and holy God?
2 Oh! may our souls thy grace adore; May Jesus plead our humble claim, While thy protection we implore, In his prevailing glorious Name!
3 With all the boasted pomp of war, In vain we dare the hostile field, Unless the Lord himself be there:
His arm alone is Britain's shield.
4 Oh! may the Lord that period bring, When raging war shall waste no more; When peace shall stretch her healing wing, Extending wide from shore to shore !
