ift. As to Kings being nurfing Fathers, and Queens nurfing Mothers, thefe were only Types, and Figures, that they fhould' embrace Chrift's holy Faith, who were predeftinated by divine Providence to be the Heads, as well of the ecclefiaftical as civil Government; and that these should be the Guardians of Chrift's holy Church, to preferve the fame from its Enemies and Perfecutors, as a Father, or Mother, or Nurfe doth guard a Child from all Dangers or Misfortunes, that may happen to it. Yet though they are the Principal and Supream of the Nations, neverthelefs they muft follow the glorious Example of their Redeemer Jefus Chrift, and cloath themselves with his exemplary Meeknefs and Humility.

We find no where in the facred Pages, that the Meffia fhould come to conquer Nations, or destroy them; on the contrary, he is defcribed as meek and hum- Ifa. 53. 2, 3. ble, poor and lowly; and it his Do

nefs, Power was given him from his Fr ther, the Almighty, to fave us by his Interceffion, and Mediation, to crown us with a Diadem of Immortal Glory, Blifs, and Happiness; for he came to fave us through the Blood of his Covenant, which was fpilt as a general Sacrifice for our Iniquities; For the Wages of Sinis Death; but by our unfeigned Repentance, and by his Mediation, we may come to that eternal Joy, prepared for the Righteous in the celeftial Jerufalem.

2dly. The Deftruction of Gog and Magog, is only Typical, and fignifieth the Destruction of the Enemies of Chrift's holy Church. For when the Lord of Life came,and the fecond Covenant commenced, there were many that fought the total Deftruction of the Church, but God, thro' his infinite Goodness, defeated their Attémpts, and gained the Victory over them, that fo we might embrace and enjoy our holy Religion, without any Perfecution or Moleftation, with Peace and Tranquility.

As for the Drinking of the Blood, mentioned by this Prophet (Ezek. 39.) it is certainly forbidden by the Mofaick Law;

but

but by the new Covenant nothing cart deftroy or pollute the Soul, but what defiles the Heart:

3dly. For your Figment of the great Feaft of the man Behemoth (although the Word fignifieth Plurality of Beasts) you bring no other Quotation from Scrip ture, but the Behemoth of Job, Chap. 40. and the rm Leviathan,in the next Chapter, notwithstanding the Talmud fays,

That the Hiftory of fob ) איוב משלהיה

is

not Matter of Fact, but only a Parable, and that there was no fuch Man as Job. The real Signification of the Behemoth and Leviathan was fulfilled in

the devouring Nations. As for your Feaft, I have already particularly noted, That, Firft, it reflects on God's infinite, Power; and, Secondly, It favours more of Epicurian Glottony, than any fpirituak. Happinefs; therefore I fhall not enlarge on that Subject.

4thly. The Winé confecrated for the Feaft of God's Elect, fhall not be drank, you fay, by thofe that drink 70 " Wine confecrated to Idols, or and Wine preffed by Chriftians, or thofe who eat Bread of Oyl of Strangers, not made by I a

the Hands of Jews; fuch fhall not drink any Part of this Wine, indeed I really believe but very few will be entitled to that Favour.

Thus you plainly perceive your pernicious Superftitions and Delufions; your Çontradictions and Prevarications; all which leave no Room to doubt, but that the Chriftian Faith is better grounded on the facred Scripture than your traditional Faith. But I proceed.

Secondly, My bleffed Saviour Fefus Chrift, converted the Nations and Kings to embrace his Faith. He caufed the Heathen to forfake their Idolatry, and to take up the Crofs: he inticed not the People by his Miracles, to serve Idols, as you pretend he did; he came not as a falfe Meffia, to feduce the People to Idolatry: No, he came to ftrengthen us in the Fear and Love of God. Who then could be compared to this Jefus? his Meeknefs, and Lowlinefs, was fo glorioufly Exemplary, that even thofe, who bore the greatest Hatred against him, could not but praise his Deportment

Thirdly,

Thirdly, His Miracles, which he wrought, when on Earth, Multitudes of Spectators. beheld, and you cannot deny but he wrought them; but you fay it was done either by holy Names D now or Magick, which contradicts your Traditions, as I have already obferved. As for Magick, your Rabbies affirm, that none even can or durft mention the Lord's Name, but thereby his magical Works were defeated; but Chrift taught us the Truth of God, and was not defeated. What a glorious Gospel hath he delivered unto us? how Sacred and Divine are his Expreffions, that, without all Difpute, must have been infpired from Heaven, for all Things being fulfilled in Jefus, there is certainly no doubt of the Truth, and Reality of his Word? And thus was fulfilled what God faid unto Mofes, of the Signs and Miracles of the great Prophet; for at the Coming of my bleffed Lord and Saviour, The Eyes of the Blind were Ila. 35. 5, 6. enlightned, and the Ears of the Deaf were open'd; the lame Man leap'd as an Hart, and the dumb Man fang.

Fourthly, His Sufferings and Ignominy inflicted on him, by cruel and barbarous Men,
