40. Map of the Philippine Islands (v. 34) of the Coasts of China, etc. Camus and Brunet do not appear to have observed that this has the names in Portuguese and not in Spanish. Camus describes the halves as belonging to different parts-see his sections 34 and 40. The whole map is on two large sheets, and belongs to Da Motta's Navigation to the East Indies, as may be seen in the notice to that Part (v. 33). In one the maps have the verso blank, a. b. c.-- others have Arabic genealogies on verso, C. Some are more finished than the others, and sometimes one portion is more finished than the other. These differences are most marked in those without genealogies. In a and b they are finished, in c partly. finished and unfinished.

Of these maps, a has No. 1 in 3d condition, No. 2 in 2d condition.— b has No. 1 in 2d condition, No. 2 in 3d condition.-c has No. 1 in 4th condition and in 2d condition with genealogies. No. 2 in 1st condition and in 2d condition with genealogies.—d, No. 1 in 3d condition, No. 2 in 2d condition and in 4th condition with genealogies.

There are two Errata on part of the last page, and beneath a portion of the Privilege dated 25 October, 1664, to Girard Garnier. Camus says that this notice relates as much to the last piece of Volume I (v. No. 46) as to the first piece of the second volume (No. 51) for according to the pagination, the two pieces form a single part, one ending on page 30 and the other beginning on page 31. a. b. c.

51. Journey of the Ambassadors, &c. pp. 31-68. The signatures begin on page 33 thus (?) E. On pp. 6768, Explanations of the plates. These forming a series of 12 plates are sometimes distributed throughout the voyage at the places to which they refer, and are sometimes together at the end. There are two kinds, one set in seven double sheets, the other generally the 2d edition in four large sheets, and all but one are en contre-épreuve.
