Conductor J. Tresham, of the invalid pension establishment, is permitted to reside and draw his allowances at Mohgbyr.

Mr. George F Brown, Colle tor and Magistate of Zillah Joun poor, reported his return to the Presidenes from the Cape of Good Hope on board the Barque Cornwall of Kedgeree on the 16th Justant.

The Right Hon'b'e the Governor General of India in Council is pleased to attach to the Bengal Presidency Messrs. MA G. Shawe and T. Young, Writers reported qualified for the Public Service.

Mr H. S. Lane received charge of the Tamlook Salt Agency from r T P. Maren on the 12th instant.

air. M. A G. Shawe having passed on Examination on the 13th instant, and being reported qualified for the Pabac Service by proficiency in the Native Languages the Orders issued the 5th October last for that Gentleman's return to England is cancelled.

has been pleased to appoint Thos Holroyd, Esq., one of the
Gentlemen nominated by His Majesty's Judges of the Supreme
Court, to be Sheriff of Ca.cuita during the ensuing year.

Mr. James Paton is appointed Assistant in the Office of the
Superintendent of Stamps for the purpose of authenticating Stampt
Papers.

Mr. K. Murchison, Governor of Prince Wa es' Island, Singapore and Malacca, reported his departure from Prince of Wales' Island for Calcutta on the 6 h iustant, preparatory to applying for leave to proceed to England on Furlough. Mr. Bonham took cha ge of the Government of those Settlements on the same date under the Orders of the Right Hon'ble th- Governor of Bengal.

The Right Hon'ble the Governor of Bengal has complied with the application of Mr. Eward Dedes for leave to proceed to Europe on Furlough in the present season.

Mr. W. st. Q Quintin, of the Civil Service, has been permitted to proceed to England on Furlough under Medical Certificate. Mr. Wilain Bracken is appoin ed Deputy Collector of Sea Customs a Calcu ta, vice Walker promoted.

Mr F. W. Russell, of the Civil Service, reported his arrival at this Presideucy on return from England. His return to the Service dates from the 24 instant.

Mr. John Trotter. Opium Agent at Benares is permitted to be absent from his station for a period of one month, from the ent of December, instant Mr G. . Edmonstone wil officiate a Opium Agent during Mr. Trotter's absence.

The Right Hon'ble the Governor of Bengal has complied with the application of Mr. G J. Morris, of the Civil Service, for leave to proceed to Europe on Furiouzh in the present season.

Sir baries Metcalf Ochter ony, Bart, reported his arrival as a Writer on this Est blishment ou the 4th instant.

The leave of absence granted to Dr Alexander Halliday, Pre. sidency surgeon, on the 23d ultimo, to take effect from the 19th ultimo, is to be calculated as taking effect from the 6th instant. Mr. George Tod, of the Civil Service, reported his arrival at this Presidency on return from Eugiaud. His return to the Ser vice dates from the 34 instaut.

The leave granted unders the Orders of Government of 30th ultimo, 10 Mr. Etward Deedes, to proceed to Europe on Fur lough in the present season, has been cancelled at his own request.

Mr. C C. Hyde, Collector of Government Customs at Calcutta. Rungpoor, and the Deputy Collectorates of Bognora and Pubna,

has obrained leave of absence to proceed to Sea under Medical Certificate for a period of eighteen months. Au extension of the leave granted muder orders dated 14th September last, has also been granted to Mr. Hyde for one month, from the 19ta proximo, to enabl bim to prepare for the voyage
