The above, Speed's principal work, was published with the assistance of his friend Samuel Hartlib. The title is manifestly copied from that of William Coles's "Adam out of Eden," first published in 1657. It treats of Turnips, Clover, Potatoes, Saffron, Hops, Flax, Wheat, and like crops; besides dealing with the care of horses, poultry, and the like. Also touching on the cultivation of Vines, Roses, etc., and the art of Fishing. The author shows familiarity with the writings of Hartlib and his friends, and also claims a personal acquaintance with Sir Richard Weston.
