There is also provided ample space on the forms for recommendations of an applicant. It is especially necessary that their commenders should give their own addresses, in order that the Managers may make due inquiry into the suitableness of an applicant. It is proper to state, that the will of the founder expressly prefers "clergymen's widows before others" among the applicants for admission.

The Presbyterian Home for Widows and Single Women.

FIFTY-EIGHTH STREET AND DARBY ROAD.

The object is to provide a Home for Aged and Infirm Members of the Presbyterian Church, in all its branches, residing in the State of Pennsylvania.

Applicants for admission must be recommended by the Session of the church to which they belong.

It is governed by a Board of Managers elected from the various Presbyterian Churches of Philadelphia and adjacent counties.

The admission fee shall be regulated by the age of the applicant, but shall in no case be less than $150.

Methodist Episcopal Home.

THIRTEENTH STREET AND LEHIGH AVENUE.

To provide for the aged and infirm members of the Methodist Episcopal Church a comfortable home, with clothing, employment, etc.

The payment of $1 constitutes a member; $20 a life member; $100 a benefactor; and $500 a patron for life. Applicants must pay $150 in advance. None admitted under sixty years of age.

SEVENTEENTH AND NORRIS STREETS.

A Home for the Aged and Infirm Members of the Baptist Church.

The payment of $1 constitutes a member; $20 a life member.

Persons 70 years of age and upward can be admitted by the payment of $150; under 70, $200 will be required.

Old Ladies' Home of Philadelphia.

FRANKFORD AVENUE AND CLEARFIELD STREET.

In the Home no sect is known, as no rules decide when, where, or in what way its inmates may worship God. Each individual is permitted to live her life in her own

way as long as she does not infringe upon the peace or comforts of her associates.

Applicants must be 65 years of age or over, of good moral character, quiet spirit, and peaceful behavior.

CORNER LANCASTER AND GIRARD AVENUES.

This Home supplies what has long been needed, viz.: an institution non-sectarian in its character, where old women of all denominations may find a comfortable home, and kind, attentive friends.

Home for Aged Couples of the City of
Philadelphia.

1723 FRANCIS STREET, CORNER of Perkiomen.

The object and purpose of this corporation are the establishment and support of a non-sectarian Home for Old and Indigent Couples (man and wife) of good moral character.

Any aged couple (man and wife), of not less than sixty years of age, and of good moral character, may be admitted into the Home on the payment of four hundred dollars, and providing furniture for a room (which furniture shall belong to the Home in case of the death of the owner), and by signing an agreement to abide by the rules and regulations of the Home. Those holding property are required to secure the same to the Home before they are admitted, and should they obtain any property after admission, it will also be necessary to convey it to the Association if they remain in the Home.
