And also one act made in the xxxvij. year of the reign 37 H. 8. c. 17. of the said late King Henry the Eighth, intituled, An ́act that doctors of the civil law, being married, may exercise ecclefiaftical jurifdiction; (2) and all and every branches and articles in the faid two acts last mentioned, and not repealed in the time of the faid late King Edward the Sixth, may from henceforth likewise stand and be revived, and remain in their full force and trength, to all intents and purposes; any thing contained in the faid act or repeal before mentioned, or any other matter or cause to the contrary notwithstanding.

XVI. And to the intent that all ufurped and foreign power ing of foreign and authority spiritual and temporal, may for ever be clearly authority. extinguifhed, and never to be ufed or obeyed within this realm, or any other your Majefty's dominions or countries; (2) may it please your Highness that it may be further enacted by the authority aforefaid, That no foreign prince, person, prelate, ftate or potentate fpiritual or temporal, fhall at any time after the last day of this feffion of parliament ufe, enjoy or exercise any manner of power, jurifdiction, fuperiority, authority, preheminence or privilege fpiritual or ecclefiaftical, within this realm, or within any other your Majefty's dominions or countries that now be, or hereafter fhall be, but from thenceforth the fame fhall be clearly abolished out of this realm, and all other your Highness dominions for ever; any ftatute, ordinance, custom, conftitutions, or any other matter or cause whatsoever to the contrary in any wife notwithstanding.

XVII. XVIII. And that it may also be enacted, That if any fuch arch- The penalty bishop, bifhop or any other ecclefiaftical officer or minifter, or for refufing any of the faid temporal judges, jufticiaries, or other lay officer or minifter, fhall peremptorily or obftinately refuse to take or receive the faid oath; that then he fo refufing fhall forfeit and lofe only during his life all and every ecclefiaftical and fpiritual promotion, benefice and office, and every temporal and lay promotion and office, which he hath folely at the time of fuch refufal made; and that the whole title, intereft, and incumbency, in every fuch promotion, benefice, and other office, as against fuch perfon only fo refufing, during his life, fhall clearly cease and be void, as though the party fo refusing were dead. XXI. And

XXI. And that alfo all and every fuch person and persons fo refufing to take the faid oath, fhall immediately after fuch refufal, be from thenceforth, during his life, difabled to retain or exercife any office or other promotion which he at the time of such refusal hath jointly, or in common, with any other perfon or perfons.

XXII. And that all and every person and perfons, that at any time hereafter shall be preferred, promoted or collated to any archbishoprick or bishoprick, or to any other fpiritual or ecclefiaftical benefice, promotion, dignity, office or ministry; or that shall be by your Highness, your heirs or fucceffors, preferred or promoted to any temporal or lay office, ministry or fervice within this realm, or in any your Highness dominions, before he or they shall take upon him or them to receive, use, exercife, fupply, or occupy any fuch archbishoprick, bishoprick, promotion, dignity, office, miniftry or fervice, fhall likewife make, take, and receive the faid corporal oath before mentioned, upon the evangelift, before fuch perfons as have or fhall have authority to admit any fuch person to any such office, ministry or fervice, or else before fuch perfon or perfons as by your Highnefs, your heirs or fucceffors, by commiffion under the great feal of England, fhall be named, affigned or appointed to minifter the faid oath.

XXIII. And that it may likewise be further enacted by the authority aforefaid, That if any such person or persons, as at any time hereafter fhall be promoted, preferred or collated to any fuch promotion spiritual or ecclefiaftical, benefice, office or ministry, or that by your Highness, your heirs or fucceffors, fhall be promoted or preferred to any temporal or lay office, ministry or fervice, fhall and do peremptorily and obftinately refuse to take the fame oath fo to him to be offered; that then he or they fo refusing shall presently be judged disabled in the law to receive, take or have the fame promotion fpiritual or ecclefiaftical, or the fame temporal office, miniftry or service within this realm, or any other your Highness dominions, to all intents, conftructions and purposes.

XXIV. XXVI. XXVII. And for the more fure obfervation of this act, and the utter extinguishment of all foreign and ufurped power and authority; (2) may it please your Highnefs, that it may be further enacted by the authority aforefaid, That if any person or perfons dwelling or inhabiting within this your realm, or in any other your Highness realms or dominions, of what estate, dignity or degree foever he or they be, after the end of thirty days. next after the determination of this feflion of this prefent parliament, shall by writing, printing, teaching, preaching, express words, deed or act, advisedly, malicioufly and directly affirm, hold, stand with, fet forth, maintain or defend, the authority, preheminence, power or jurifdiction, fpiritual or ecclefiaftical, of any foreign prince, prelate, perfon, ftate or potentate whatfoever, heretofore claimed, used or ufurped within this realm, or any dominion or country being within or under the power, dominion or obeyfance of your Highness; (3) or fhall advisedly, maliciously and directly put in ure or execute any thing for the extolling, advancement, fetting forth, maintenance or defence of any fuch pretended or ufurped jurifdiction, power, preheminence and authority, or any part thereof; (4) that then every The penalty fuch person and perfons fo doing and offending, their abettors, of the mainaiders, procurers and counsellors, being thereof lawfully convic- tenance of foreign authoted and attainted, according to the due order and course of the common laws of this realm, for his or their first offence shall Dyer 363. forfeit and lose unto your Highness, your heirs 'and fucceffors, all his and their goods and chattels, as well real as personal.
