XVIII. XIX. Provided always, That no licence shall extend to the eating of any beef at any time of the year, nor to the eating of any veal in any year from the feast of St. Michael the archangel unto the first day of May.

XX. Provided also, That all perfons which by reason of times of fick notorious fickness shall be enforced for recovery of health to eat flesh for the time of their sickness, fhall be fufficiently licenced by the bishop of the diocefe; (2) or by the parfon, vicar or curate of the parish where fuch perfon fhall be sick, or of one of the next parish adjoining, if the faid parfon, vicar or curate of his or their own parish be wilful, or if there be no curate within the fame parish; (3) which licence fhall be made in writing figned with the hand of the bishop of the diocese, or of the parfon, vicar or curate, and not to endure longer than the time of the fickness; (4) and that if the sickness fhall continue above the space of eight days after fuch licence granted, then the licence fhall be registered in the church book, with the knowledge of one of the churchwardens; (5) and the party licenced fhall give to the curate four pence for the entry thereof, and that licence to endure no longer, but only for the time of his her or their fickness.

XXI. And if any licence by any parfon, vicar or curate, be granted to any perfon or perfons, other than fuch as evidently appear to have need thereof by reason of their sickness; not only every fuch licence shall be void, but also every such parson, vicar or curate, fhall forfeit for every fuch licence otherwise, granted, five marks.

XXII. Provided alfo, and be it enacted, That all licences heretofore granted to any fubject of this realm by any of the late

XXVIII. And where an eftatute concerning fowing of flax and hemp, was made and provided in the parliament holden iu the four and twentieth yearof the reign of our late fovereign lord King Henry the Eighth, to be univerfal through every county of this realm, for the better provifion of nets, for help and furtherance of fishing, and for efchewing of idleness:

XXIX. Be it ordained and enacted by authority of this prefent parliament, That in every fuch county of this realm or part of fuch county, where by the Queen's majesty's proclamation it shall hereafter be published the said eftatute to be commodious or profitable for the commonwealth, the faid eftatute, and every claufe, article and provifion therein contained, be and fhall be revived, and ftand in full force and ftrength to be executed and performed, from the feast of Saint Michael the archangel next coming, in all things, other than in the proportion of a rood or fourth part of an acre, and in the pain of three fhillings and four pence, by the faid eftatute limited (2) in place whereof, be it ordained and enacted by the authority aforefaid, That in every cafe and degree where by the faid former eftatute one rood or fourth part of an acre is limited to be fown with linfeed otherwife flaxfeed or hempfeed; from the faid feaft of Saint Michael the archangel next coming, in ftead and lieu of the faid rood or fourth part of an acre, one whole acre or lefs, as by proclamation in form aforefaid fhall be limited, fhall be fown with linfeed otherwise flax

XXX. XXXI. And if any perfon or perfons fhall be presented before the faid judges, juftices or officers, within the limits of their authorities, or any information given to them of any offender of this act, that then they shall have full power and authority upon any fuch prefentment or information, to make process against the offenders of this act, like as is commonly used upon indictments of trespass: (2) and if any be presented, and afterward be convicted, by confeffion or otherwife, that then every fuch perfon fhall fuffer no less forfeiture or punishment than herein is before limited (3) all which forfeitures to be levied in manner and form following; that is to fay, Who fhall fuch forfeitures concerning eating of flesh, as are before li- have the bemited to certain uses, to be to the fame ufes in that behalf before nefit of all the expreffed; (4) and all fuch forfeitures, as according to the aforefaid. tenour of this act fhall be determinable before the faid judges, juftices or other officers of the admiralties aforefaid, or before commiffioners of oyer and terminer in that behalf, thall be to the use of the lord admiral of England or lord warden of the cinque-ports, where fuch offence fhall be prefented, or whereas the jurifdiction of the caufe fhall appertain :

XXXII. And all fuch forfeitures, as according to the tenour of this act shall be determinable before the mayors, fheriffs, bailiffs or other head officers of cities or towns corporate, fhall be to the common ufe of the corporation of the faid city or
