12 For the perfecting of the Saints, for the work of the Miniftery, for the
edifying of the body of Christ.

13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledg of the Son of
God, unto a perfect min, unto the measure of the ftature of the fulneß of
Christ.

As the primitive Churches were undoubtedly governed by the Apostles, and
their immediate Succeffors, the firft and beft Bishops; fo it cannot in rea
fon or charity be fuppofed, that all Churches in the world, fhould either be
ignorant of the rule by them prefcribed, or fo foon deviate from their Divine
and holy pattern, King Charls the firft, 'Eix. Barin. c.17.
