SERMON I.

"SPEAK UNTO THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL, Exodus xiv. 15.

THAT THEY GO FORWARD."

The journey of the Israelites from Egypt to Canaan is abundantly instructive to the Children of God, whether we consider their enemies, difficulties, and trials ;-their sins, murmurings, and punishments;-or the exhortation, deliverance, and support, with which the God of all grace favored them. In the passage I have read we have a command, which we may well take each of us to ourselves, "Speak unto the Children of Israel, that they go forward." O may God the Holy Spirit apply it to our hearts, and enable us to act upon it!
