It

This library was of an exceedingly important character. consisted mainly of medical works in English, Latin and German (printed in this country and abroad during the 16th and 17th centuries) by such celebrated practitioners as Peter of Abano (the

reputed magician who fell into the hands of the Inquisition), Hippocrates, Galen, Paracelsus, Monardes, Ulrich Hutten, James Ferrand, and many more, including William Harvey, the rediscoverer of the circulation of the blood. It included also many manuscripts and a large number of works relating to the Plague The entire collection was sold en bloc to Mr. Tobin for the sum above named.
