Royal Irish Linen Paper.

TH

MARCUS WARD & CO., Sole Manufacturers.

HERoyal Irish Linen Writing Papers, made from a raw material of Pure Irish Linen, maintain their reputation of long standing for excellence and reliability. They obtained Prize Medals at the International Exhibitions of London, 1862, Paris, 1867, Dublin, 1872, and Philadelphia, 1876, with special commendation in the Jurors' Reports; also at Paris, 1878, together with the Cross of the Legion of Honor.

Marcus Ward & Co.'s Writing Papers are now made in different qualities, bearing distinctive Water Marks, which may be observed by holding a sheet of the Paper against the light,

FIRST QUALITY.

THE HE Royal Xrish Linen Papers are the finest that can be produced, being made from new unworn Linen cuttings. This material can only be obtained pure in the North of Ireland, where the Linen trade is the staple, to the entire exclusion of its inferior substitute Cotton. No Rags or worn-out fabrics are used in the manufacture; but the pure Linen fibre, by means of perfected machinery, is turned into Writing Paper of unequalled strength and agreeable surface, suitable alike for gold, steel, or quill pens.

The Royal Irish Linen Papers bear our Water Mark in every Sheet. They are made in Two Shades-the old style CREAM SHADE, and the antique AZURE TINT. They can be had with two degrees of finish:

"MILL FINISH."-A slightly rough surface, now much in favor, and suitable for bold writing. "GLAZED."—A highly-polished surface, suitable for fine writing with fine-pointed steel or gold

pens.

The ROYAL IRISH LINEN PAPERS are not higher in price than the ordinary “best quality" commonly in use.

SECOND QUALITY.

THE Pure Flax Writing Papers meet a demand created by the success

of the ROYAL IRISH LINEN PAPERS for a similar Paper at a Lower Price. As this could only be produced from a Pure Flaxen Fibre, the material for it is found in "Flax Waste," the residue from the "hackling" process in Flax Spinning Mills. This excellent fibre, infinitely stronger than any description of "Rags," of which Paper is commonly made, is converted into the PURE FLAX PAPER by a process peculiar to the Makers.

The Pure Flax Writing Papers bear our Water Mark in every sheet. They are made in the unbleached CREAM SHADE, with a Middle surface (neither too rough nor too smooth), suitable for rapid writing and ordinary use.

For BUSINESS USE, the Pure Flax Paper is made also in the usual BLUE AND CREAM varieties, and in the regular large sizes of Letter and Note Paper, etc., required for mercantile use. The prices of the PURE FLAX PAPERS are very moderate and within the reach of every one.
