Sir Peter Medawar began research in Professor's H. W. Florey's laboratory in Oxford in the early days of the development of penicillin. He investigated the causes of and sought a possible remedy for the rejection by human beings of organs and tissues transplanted from other human beings. He was award the Nobel Prize in 1960.
