INSTRUCTION.

HE ftate of Virginity is perfectly agreeable to the Christian scheme, whatever objections human policy may make against it. God himself, become incarnate, recommends it by word and example. St. Paul beftows the greatest encomiams on it; and in every age of the Church, thofe that preferved their virginity, were always Tooked on as the nobleft portion of the flock of Chrift. On the feftivals therefore of virgins, we are to beg of God the grace of perfeverance to the end, for all thofe who have voluntarily, by vow, undertaken that perfect state; as likewife for all, that purity of mind neceffary in every ftate of life, and without which we cannot fee God.
