AKE away from us our iniquities, we befeech thee, O Lord, that we may be worthy to affift with pure minds at the celebration of these tremendous myfteries. Thro' Jefus Christ our Lord. Amen.

When he bows down before the altar.

E befeech thee, O Lord, by the merits of thy Saints, whofe relicks are inclosed in this altar, and of all the Saints, that thou wouldst vouchfafe to forgive us all our fins. Amen.

Here, at folemn Maffes, the Prieft incenfeth the altar, and then reads the Introit, which feek in it's proper place. Then the Priest and people fay alternately:

Seek the GOSPEL in it's proper place, and stand up during the whole time it is reading. At the end of it, anfwer:

f At folemn Maffes the Deacon afks the Prieff's b'effing on bis knees, with the book of the Gofpels in his bands, before he goes to fing it, and the Prieft fays the bleffing above, changing the perfon.

At the end of the Gospel, fay with the Priest, when he kifles the book:

k Expl. The bread by anticipation is called an unfpotted hoft, becaufe all the prayers that go before, and follow the confecration, bave reference to the moment of confecration, when the victim becomes prefent, and is offered to God.
