To-day he rose and left the dead,
And Satan's empire fell;
And all his wonders tell.
Hosanna to th' anointed King,
To David's holy Son!
Salvation from thy throne.
Blest is the Lord, who comes to men
grace; Who comes in God his Father's name,
To save our sinful race,
Hosanna in the highest strains
The church on earth can raise ; The highest heav'ns, in which he reigns,
Shall give him nobler praise. ;!.!.
90. .Sabbath. TO-DAY God bids the faithful rest,
To-day he show'rs his grace; • Seek ye my face,' the Lord hath said:
Lord, we will seek thy 'face.
Come, let us leave the things of earth,
With God's assembly join;
To taste the things divine!
We come, dear Saviour; lo ! we come,
Lord of our life and soul;
Be pleas'd to make us whole.
May that be all our care !
Should mingle in our pray’r.
Let us be faithful found;
And in thy praise abound.
With faith thy word to hear;
And let us find thee near.
91. - Easter Day. The Sun of Righteousness appears,
To set in blood no more: Adore the scatt’rer of your fears,
Your rising Sun adore !
Unclos'd their sleeping eyes;
Alone the dreadful race he ran,
Alone the wine-press trod; He dy'd and suffer'd as a man:
He rises as a God! In vain the stone, the watch, the seal,
Forbid an early rise, To him who breaks the gates of hell,
And opens Paradise,
Yes, the Redeemer rose;
In wild dismay
Joyful they come,
To Jesus' tomb.
One day amidst the place
Where my dear God hath been,
Of pleasurable sin.
In such a frame as this,
To everlasting bliss.
NAMES, PERFECTIONS, PRAYER, LOVE, AND PRAISE, TO
Christ our Wisdom, &c.
Bury'd in shadows of the night,
Our guilty souls are drown'd in tears,
frame is mix'd with sin :
Jesus beholds where Satan reigns,
Poor helpless worms in thee possess
96. Christ All in All.
Holy Jesus, lovely Lamb,
Thou my one thing needful be,
Fairer than the sons of men,
