[Egan's "Life in London was published originally in 12 parts, the first being dated July 15, 1821. It subsequently appeared in I vol., demy 8vo., pictorial boards, containing half-title, a coloured frontispiece, title with woodcut vignette, dedication to George IV. (v-viii), contents (ixxii), description of illustrations (xiii-xvi), and text (pp. 1376). After p. 118 follow three folding sheets of music, and there are 36 coloured plates and numerous woodcuts by J. R. and G. Cruikshank. Some copies were printed on large paper. Another edition with a similar collation appeared in 1823. 23 extra plates by M. Heath are occasionally found with books belonging to one or other of these editions. Complete sets are, however, very rare. See post No. 5995.-ED.]
