This very pretty composition introduces no less than 12 different breeds of Dogs, Count d'Orsay's celebrated large French Poodle, seated, "laying down the Law," with the gravity of a Lord Chancellor. It is said that likenesses to several distinguished Living Statesmen may be traced in their physiognomies. Lord Lyndhurst is reported to have suggested the idea.
