The printing of the date gave rise to a sharp controversy between Mercier Abbé de St. Léger, who considers it ought to be read 1500 Sept. 21, and De Bure who places the date of printing as 1521. Mercier was undoubtedly right, and has had his judgment confirmed by Panzer, Hain, Brunet and all the best bibliographers.
