At times, to faith's far-seeing eye,

Thy golden gates appear!
4

Father, if the Lord !"
The promise of that faithful word,

E'en here to me fulfill,
5 So, when my latest breath

Shall rend the vail in twain,
By death I shall escape from death,

And life eternal gain.
6 That resurrection word!

That shout of victory!
Once more--"Forever with the Lord!

Amen! so let it be!

HYMN 826, 88 and 78.

Longings for Heaven. dol 1

TIME, thou speedest on but slowly,

Hours, how tardy is your pace !
Ere with Him the high and holy

I hold converse face to face.
2 Here is nought but care and mourning;

Comes a joy, it will not stay;
Fairly shines the sun at dawning,

Night will soon o'ercloud the day. mf 3 Onward then! not long I wander

Ere my Saviour comes for me,
And with him abiding yonder,

All his glory I shall see.
4 Oh! the music and the singing

Of the host redeemed by love!
Oh! the hallelujahs ringing

Through the halls of light above!

PSALMS.

PSALM XXIII. C. M.
1 THE Lord's my Shepherd, I'll not want;

He
In pastures green: he leadeth me

The quiet waters by.
2 My soul he doth restore again,

And me to walk doth make
Within the paths of righteousness,

E'en for his own name's sake.
3 Yea, though I walk in death's dark vale,

Yet will I fear no ill;
For thou art with me, and thy rod

And staff me comfort still.
4 My table thou hast furnished

In presence of my foes;
My head thou dost with oil anoint,

And my cup overflows.
5. Goodness and mercy all my life

Shall surely follow me;
And in God's house for evermore

My dwelling-place shall be. 828

PSALM XLIII. C. M. 1

H! send thy light forth, and thy truth;

Let them be guides to me;
And bring me to thy holy hill,

E’en where thy dwellings be.
2 Then will I to God's altar go,

To God, my chiefest joy;
Yea, God, my God, thy name to praise,

My harp I will employ.
3 Why art thou then cast down, my soul?

What should discourage thee?
And why with vexing thoughts art thou

Disquieted in me?
4 Still trust in God; for him to praise

Good cause I yet shall have;
He of my countenance is the health

My God that doth me save.

PSALM C. L. M.
1 A LL people that on earth do dwell,

Sing to the Lord with cheerful voice,
Him serve with mirth, his praise forth tell,

Come ye before him and rejoice.
2 Know that the Lord is God indeed;

Without our aid he did us make;
We

e are his flock; he doth us feed,

And for his sheep he doth us take.
3 Oh! enter, then, his gates with praise,

Approach with joy his courts unto;
Praise, laud, and bless his name always,

For it is seemly, so to do.
4 For why? the Lord our God is good,

His mercy is forever sure;
His truth at all times firmly stood,

And shall from age to age endure. 830

PSALM CXVI. C. M.
1 LOVE the Lord, because my voice

And prayers he did hear
I, while I live, will call on him,

Who bowed to me his ear.
2 Of death the cords and sorrows did

About me compass round;
The pains of hell took hold on me,

I grief and trouble found.
3 Upon the name of God the Lord,

Then did I call, and say,
Deliver thou my soul, O Lord,

I do thee humbly pray:
4 God merciful and righteous is,

Yea, gracious is our Lord;
God saves the meek: I was brought low;

He did me help afford.
5 l’ll of salvation take the cup,

On God's name will I call;
I'll pay my vows now to the Lord,

Before his people all.
6 Within the courts of God's own house;

Within the midst of thee
O city of Jerusalem,

Praise to the Lord give ye.

HYMN 831, L. M.
1
DISI
ISMISS us with thy blessing, Lord!

Help us to feed upon thy word;
All that has been amiss forgive,

And let thy truth within us live.
2 Though we are guilty, thou art good,-

Wash all our works in Jesus' blood;
Give every burdened soul release,

And bid us all depart in peace. 832 HYMN 832, 8s, Ys, and 4s.

1
1 LORDI dismiss us with thy blessing

Fill our hearts with joy and peace:
Let us all, thy love possessing,
Triumph in redeeming grace:

Oh! refresh us-
Traveling through this wilderness.
2 Thanks we give, and adoration,

For thy gospel's joyful sound;
Let the fruits of thy salvation
In our hearts and lives abound;

May thy presence
With us evermore be found.
3 So, whene'er the signal's given,

Ús from earth to call away
Borne on angels' wings to heaven,
Glad to leave this cumbrous clay,

May we ever

Reign with Christ in endless day. 833

HYMN 833, 8s and s.
1
ΜΑΣ
AY the grace of Christ our Saviour,

And the Father's boundless love,
With the Holy Spirit's favor,

Rest upon us from above.
Let us thus abide in union

With each other and the Lord,
And possess, in sweet communion,

Joys which earth cannot afford.

834 HYMN 834, 85, 78, and 48. 1 LOD of our salvation, hear us,

Bless, O bless us, ere we go; mp

When we join the world, be near us,
Lest thy people careless grow;

Saviour, keep us,

Keep us safe from every foe. тр

2 While our days on earth are lengthened,

May we give them, Lord, to thee; dol Cheered by

hope, and daily strengthened,
May we run, nor weary be,

Till thy glory
Without clouds in heaven we see.
