SCRIPTURe reading UNION.

"CHRISTIAN PROGRESS" SCRIPTURE READING UNION.

1. Every MEMBER reads daily the same Chapter of the Old Testament and a short Evening Portion of the New. ASSOCIATES read only the New Testament portion, any time during the day. Persons of all ages and all denominations may join.

2.

All readers of LIVING WATERS are invited to join this Union, either as Members or Associates, and to ask their friends to do so. They should send their full names and addresses (stating whether Rev., Esq., Mr., Mrs., or Miss) to the Rev. ERNEST BOYS, Beverley, Sidcup, Kent. One stamp must be enclosed, and a card of Membership will be forwarded.

Our increase during the past month has been as follows:-Members, 1,036, and Associates, 802. But we have been filling up vacant places on our lists through resignation or other causes, so that our registered total stands at 57,472 Members, and 25,802 Associates. We do not, however, fill up the numbers of our deceased Members. Indeed, we do not consider them vacant, and like to think of those who are with Christ" as belonging to us still.

CORRECTION OF REGISTERS.

We are anxious to get our Registers as correct as possible, and ask every Member or Associate who has changed name or residence since joining the Union, however long ago, to write and inform us, whether information has been sent already or not. We should also be thankful to any who will inform us of any similar change they are aware of in others; also of the decease of any (with date), since the formation of the Union, July, 1876. In every case the card number should be quoted, and name and address clearly.

WORK FOR THE NEW YEAR.

The New Year affords such a grand opportunity for securing new Members and Associates. Our readers should work hard amongst their friends, inviting them to start on January 1st. If the words "for January 1st" is written plainly upon the Forms of Application, or on letters sending names, we will keep them till the last week in the year, and forward cards with the January Magazines,

SPECIAL ASSOCIATIONS FOR SCRIPTURE READING. We have now registered 545 Secretaries for Special Associations, and have sent a Worker's Card to each. These are distributed as follows: Village Associations, 236; Young Ladies' Schools, 90; Mothers' Meetings, 43; Sunday School Classes, 102; Bible Classes, 58; Special District Secretaries, 16. These branches of the work might be extended so much more widely, if all who work in these spheres would take it up, and write for particulars as to working the various Associations.

CHRISTIAN PROGRESS BIRTHDAY TEXT BOOK.

All Members and Associates who desire to commence the New Year using the same Birthday Text Book, may like to know that the "Birthday Remembrancer" will be called, as its second title, "The Christian Progress Daily Text Book." It is published by Bemrose and Sons, price 1s. 6d. But we will forward a copy to any address for 18 stamps, post free. It would make a pretty present for Members to give to each other. It might, if so desired, be kept for the entry of the names of Members and Associates only; and our readers could see how many days they could thus fill up with the name of a friend whom they know to be reading, whom they have persuaded to join, and whom they can remember in prayer. Twelve copies will be sent for 12s.; carriage extra.

SUBJECT FOR PRAYER FOR DECEMBER.

For blessing on the work of the Secretaries of our Associations, and that their number may be largely increased.
