This is composed of delegates from permanently organized State Medical Societies, and such County and District Medical Societies as are recognized by representation in their respective State Societies, and from the Medical Department of the Army and Navy of the United States. All who attend as delegates become thenceforth Permanent Members, as long as they remain in good standing in their local society, and pay their annual assessments. It meets annually on the first Tuesday in May or June; the place of meeting for each year being settled at the previous meeting. In 1875 the Association will meet in Louisville, on the first Tuesday in May. American Public Health Association. ORGANIZED APRIL, 1872. The objects of this Association are the advancement of sanitary science, and the promotion of organizations and measures for the practical application of public hygiene. The members are selected with special reference to their acknowledged interest in, or devotion to, sanitary, studies and allied sciences, and to the practical applications of the same. ba Each candidate is proposed to the Executive Committee in writing (which may be done at any time), with a statement of the business or profession, and special qualifications of the person so proposed; on recommendation of a majority of the Committee, and on receiving a vote of two-thirds of the members present at a regular meeting, the candidate shall be declared duly elected a member of the Association. The annual fee is five dollars. The next session will be held at Baltimore, Md., on the second Tuesday of November, 1875.
