The following Course of Lectures will be delivered in this Institution during the Winter Session of 1874-5.

The Winter Course of Lectures on Anatomy will begin on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1874, at 7 o'clock P. M., and will continue until the end of February, 1875.

A Systematic Course of Lectures on Descriptive and Surgical Anatomy will be delivered on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, at 7 o'clock P. M., illustrated by Dissections, Models, Drawings, etc. The Microscopic Anatomy of the various tissues will be shown by the Class Microscope.

Dissection will be carried on under the personal supervision of the Assistant Demonstrators of Anatomy. The dissecting room is open during all the year, except July and August, with abundant material, free of cost.

The Philadelphia College of Pharmacy,

Was incorporated in 1822, "for the purpose of cultivating, improving, and making known a knowledge of Pharmacy, its collateral branches of science, and the best modes of preparing medicines and their compounds; and of giving instruction in the same by public lectures." (Preamble to Charter.)

Its officers are a President and two Vice-Presidents, a Corresponding Secretary, a Recording Secretary, and Treasurer, elected annually; who, with sixteen Trustees, eight of whom are elected in March and eight in September, constitute a Board for the control of the affairs of the College.

It is supported by the initiation fees and contributions of its members; the school connected with it by the fees paid by students.

The members of the College are active, honorary, and correspondent. Any graduate in Pharmacy, conforming in his professional conduct to the code of ethics, may be elected a member by the Board of TrusNon-graduates who have served a regular apprenticeship, and conforming as above, may in like. manner be elected after passing an examination before a committee; or, after being established in business for at least six years, may be elected.

The initiation fee is five dollars; the annual contribution is also five dollars.

The honorary members are elected by the College, on the recommendation of four members; they are "such persons as, from their knowledge of Materia Medica, Pharmacy, and their collateral branches of science, shall in the opinion of the College merit that distinction."

Correspondent and honorary members have the same privileges as resident members, except that they have no right to vote or to hold office in the institution.

Every member of the College, on payment of two dollars, is entitled to a certificate of membership, to be returned on his ceasing to be a member.

The School of Pharmacy is under the control of the Board of Trustees, who appoint Professors to lecture on Materia Medica, Chemistry, Theory and Practice of Pharmacy, and other branches of science; also a Committee on Examinations, who, in conjunction with the Professors, decide as to the fitness of candidates for the degree. Upon the recommendation of the Committee,

the Board may, by vote, confer the degree of Graduate in Pharmacy.

Business meetings of the College are held on the last Mondays in March, June, September, and December; pharmaceutical meetings, on the third Tuesday in every month, from October to May.

Meetings of the Board of Trustees first Tuesday in each month.

The members and graduates of the College are entitled to attend and participate in the proceedings, and to bring with them any strangers interested in Pharmacy and its kindred sciences.

Contributions of rare and curious products are solicited, as also original papers, designed for publication or otherwise, the object being to excite and keep alive, among all who participate in the meetings, an interest in the progress and improvement of the science and art of Pharmacy.

A journal of such transactions of the College as may be ordered for publication, of original essays and of selections from scientific periodicals and books, is published monthly. It is called The American Journal of Pharmacy. Professor J. M. Maisch is the editor, and H. H. Wolle, business editor. Hours, 10 to 11 A. M., in College building.

The branches taught in the School of Pharmacy are General Chemistry, Practical Pharmacy, and Materia Medica. Two lectures on each branch are delivered every week, from the first of October to the first of March; thus making a full five months' course. The lecture nights are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday;

and two lectures, one at 7 o'clock and one at 8 o'clock, are delivered upon each.

A Laboratory for practical instruction in Chemistry and Pharmacy was opened in 1870, and placed under the superintendence of Professor Maisch. The laboratory is open daily (Sundays excepted) from 9 o'clock A. M. to I P. M.

Qualifications for Graduation.-Every person upon whom a diploma of this College shall be conferred, must be of good moral character, must have arrived at the age of twenty-one years, have attended two courses of each of the lectures delivered in this College, or one course in this College and one in some other respectable college of pharmacy, the last of which, however, must be in this College; or when there is no such college organized in his locality, in some other respectable medical institution in which the same branches are taught. He shall have served out an apprenticeship of at least four years with a person or persons engaged in, and qualified to conduct, the Apothecary business. He shall also be required to produce an original dissertation or thesis, upon some subject of materia medica, pharmacy, chemistry, or one of the branches of science immediately connected therewith, which shall be written on thesis paper with neatness and accuracy, in his own handwriting. The thesis, with the written evidence above mentioned, and the graduation fee, shall be deposited with the senior professor of the school, on or before the first of February of the session in which the application shall be made.
