This very interesting book is of great rarity. We cannot trace the sale of another copy. It gives the various routes to America, and is one of the earliest books in English that relate to the Northwest Passage. He speaks of the various attempts that had been made to find this famous route, particularly of "Captain Forbisher, who hath begun to enter into, and hath discouvered it as far as a place now called Meta Incognita, which he himselfe did call Forbisher's Straights," etc. He adds, "It is possible that there may be a passage thereabout, betweene the Norther part of America, as betweene Labradore and Gronland, and such lands as lye toward the North Pole." This precious volume is a desirable item in any collection of Americana. It is in the best possible condition.

IN A BEAUTIFUL EMBLEMATIC BINDING BRINSLEY, JOHN. Virgils Eclogves, with his Booke de Apibus, concerning the Governement and ordering of bees: Translated grammatically, and also according to the proprietie of our English tongue, so farre as Grammar and the verse will well permit. Quarto, purple morocco extra, the sides tooled to a design symbolic of bees, in the centre is a fine sided panel the shape of a cell of honeycomb, upon this is tooled a beehive in gilt pointille from which small bees, in gilt, are issuing; from the five points of panel stream pointille lines which form a design and terminate at each outside corner in gilt clover leaves, the portion of sides not treated by tooling are inlaid in dark green, a very original binding by Riviere & Son. London: Thomas Man, Paul Man and Jonah Man, 1633.

One of the rarest works of its kind in the English Language.
