UNION OFFICERS' MANUAL, FOR 1850. EDITED BY WILLIAM CUNNINGHAM GLEN, OF THE MIDDLE TEMPLE, ESQ. BARRISTER-AT-LAW, AND OF THE POOR LAW BOARD. LONDON: SHAW AND SONS, FETTER LANE, PRINTERS AND PUBLISHERS OF THE BOOKS AND FORMS EDITOR'S NOTE TO THE FOURTH EDITION. In preparing a fourth annual edition of the Union Officers' Manual the Editor has spared neither pains nor labour to render it worthy of its predecessors. He has been stimulated to this by the very great approbation and success which have attended his previous efforts. He flatters himself that this edition will be found to be so improved, both in the ordinary matter and in the detail of the duties of the officers, as to merit a large and extensive circulation amongst the various officers and others engaged in the execution of the important duties which have been entrusted to them.
