"A very beautiful and valuable edition, and one of the most correct ever printed by Aldus."-Moss. F. Didot's copy sold in Paris for 159 francs.

At the Stowe Sale Mr. Rodd paid £11.15 for this copy.

A very choice copy.

Bishop Tanner was the only writer who had noticed the present edition of Heywood's Works in 1587, previous to its being communicated to Ritson's "Bibl. Poet." in 1802, by Mr. Park.

The volume is of extreme rarity, and priced in the Bibl. Angl. Poet. at £25. John Heywood, one of the very first dramatic writers that England produced, drew," says Warton, "the Bible from the Stage, and introduced familiar life and popular manners." He was a favorite with Henry VIII., and lived through the Reigns of Edward VI. and Queen Mary, into that of Elizabeth.

Heywood was an actor as well as author. He is said to have been one of the most voluminous writers of any age or nation. Notices of him and his works may be found in the Censura and Retro. Rev. All of his pieces are now rare. They are also of much value as illustrations of the life and manners of the period. Those now enumerated are fine, clean copies, nearly all in elegant mor. bindings by Murton.
