[The Dent-Benson-Perkins-Lord Amherst copy of the first ed. of Coverdale's translation of the Bible. Number 99 of the Lord Amherst collection, sold in London, December, 1908, for £385, with the following catalogue description: "The first edition of the whole Bible in English, and excessively rare in any condition, no perfect copy being known. This is an uncommonly good copy, wanting only the title, first 2 11. of dedication (supplied in fac.), and map; 2 11. split across and mended, some lower plain margins mended, and a few front marginal notes at end shaved, but the bulk in first rate condition. The woodcuts are chiefly by Hans Sebald Beham, many of which were issued separately as "Bible Illustrations by Egenolph of Frankfort."
