Inserted in this curious and interesting autobiographical narrative is the scarce contemporary pamphlet in small quarto, by R. Boreman, e cd "A Mirrour of Mercy and

Judgement, or, An Exact true Narrative of the Life and Death of Freeman Sonds, Esquier, Sonne to Sir George Sonds of Lees Court in Shelwich in Kent, who being about the age of 19 for murthering his Elder Brother was executed," 1655. An India proof plate of Lees Court by Barber, a plate of Mrs. Ann Milles' monument, and some MS. notes concerning the Sondes family are also added to the volume.

John Byrom was poet, hymnwriter, and the inventor of the system of Short-hand known by his name. The Library contained a number of early short-hand books, including Bales, 1590, Willis, 1617, etc.
