OB and I are the two wildest BOB and worst of the family. Yes, this is a fact, known to everybody. And I am worse even than Bob-much worse; for Bob's a boy, and I'm a girl; and he's eleven and a half, whilst I am nearly thirteen. I wonder I'm so bad, for it is always being dinned into my ears that the eldest of the family ought to set a good example; that a girl should be ladylike; that when you are entering your teens you're a child no longer, and a great deal is then expected of you. But I can't be good-I can't satisfy these great expectations; and here I am, at twelve years and eleven months and a quarter, quite as B |
