Howbeit, every Nation` made Gods of their own, and put THEM in the Houfes of the high Places, which the Samaritans had made, every Nation in the City D4 wherein wherein they dwelt. Ver. 30. And the Men of Babylon made Succoth-benoth, and the Men of Cuth made Nergal, and the Men of Hamuth made Afhima. Ver. 31. And the Avites made Nibbaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burned their Children in Fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the Gods of Sepharvaim. Ver. 32. So they feared the Lord, and made unto themselves the lowest of them Priests of the high Places, which facrificed for them in the Houfes of the high Places. Ver. 33. They feared the Lord, and ferved their own Gods, after the manner of the Nations whom they carried away from thence, 2 Chron. xxvi. 7. And God helped him (Uzziah) against the Philiftines, and against the Arabians, who dwelt in Gur baal. Ch. xxviii. 23. For he (Ahaz) facrificed unto the Gods of Damafcus, (DARMESEK,) which fmote him, and he faid, behold the Gods of the King of Syria help them, THEREFORE will I facrifice to them that they may help me; but they were the Ruin of him, and all Ifrael.
