2 Kings xxiii. 4. And the King (Jofiah) commanded-to bring forth out of the Temple of the Lord, all the Veffels THAT WERE made for Baal, and for the Grove, and for all the Host of Heaven, and he burnt them : Ver. 5. And he put down the Idolatrous Priefts, whom the Kings of Judah had ordained to burn Incenfe in the high Places, in the Cities of Judah, and in the Places round about Jerufalem; them also that burned Incenfe unto Baal, to the Sun, and tothe Moon, and to the Planets, (TWELVE SIGNS or, CONSTELLATIONS,) and to all the Hoft of Heaven. Vet. 6. And he brought out the Grove from the Houfe of the Lord-and burnt it. Ver. 7. And he brake down the Houfes of the Sodomites that WERE by the Houfe of the Lord, where the Women wove Hangings (HOUSES) for the Grove: Ver. 8. And defiled the high Places where the Priefts had burned Incenfe-and brake down the high Places of the Gates that WERE at the entering in of the Gate of Joshua: Ver. io. And he defiled Topheth, which is in the VOL. I.

Valley

Valley of the Children of Hinnom, that no Man might make his Son or his Daughter to pass through the Fire to Molech. Ver. 11. And he took away the Horfes that the Kings of Judah bad given to the Sun, at the entring in of the Heufe of the Lord-and be burnt the Chariots of the Sun with Fire, Ver. 12. And the Altars that WERE on the Top of the Upper Chamber of Abaz, which the Kings of Judah had made; and the Altars which Manaffeh had made in the two Courts of the Houfe of the Lord, did the King beat down, and brake THEM down from thence. Ver. 13. And the high Places that WERE before Jerufalem, which WERE on the right Hand of the Mount of Corruption, which Solomon the King of Ifrael bad builded for Afhtaroth the Abomination of the Zidonians, and for Chemofh the Abomination of the Moabites, and for Milcom the Abomination of the Children of Am mon, did the King defile. Ver. 14. And be brake in Pieces the Images, and cut down the Groves, and filled the Places with the Bones of Men. Ver. 15. Moreover, the Altar that was at Bethel, AND the high Place which Jeroboam the Son of Nebat, who made Ifrael to fin, had made; both that Altar and the high Place, he brake down, and burnt the high Places, AND ftampt IT small to

Powder, and burnt the Grove Ver. 16. And took the Bones out of the Sepulchres, and burnt THEM upon the Altar, and polluted it-Ver. 19. And all the Houfes of the high Places that WERE in the Cities of Samaria, which the Kings of Ifrael had made, to provoke THE LORD to Anger, Jofiah took away, and did to them according to all the Acts that he done at Bethel. Ver. 20. And he flew all the Priests of the high Places that WERE there, upon the Altars. Ver. 24. Moreover, the WORKERS WITH fami liar Spirits, and the Wizards, and the Ima ges and the Idols, and all the Abominations that were fpied in the Land of Judah, and in Jerufalem, Jofiah put away.

Alfo he took away out of all the Cities of Judah, the high Places and the Images (Heb. SUN-IMAGES,) then they profpered.

Chap. xv. 12. And they entered into a Covenant to feek the Lord God of their Fathers with all their Heart, and with all their Soul: Ver. 13. That whosoever would not feek the Lord God of Ifrael, fhould be put to Death, whether fmall or great, whether Man or Woman, &c. Ver. 16. And also CONCERNING Maacha the Mother of Afa the King, he removed her from BEING Queen, because he had made an Idol in a Grove, (Heb. HORROUR:) and Afa cut down her Idol, and ftampt IT, and burnt IT at the Brook Kidron.

Chap. xvii. 3. And the Lord was with Jehofaphat, because he walked in the first Ways of his Father David, and fought not unto Baalim.

Chap. xxiv. 7. For the Sons of Athalia, that wicked Woman, had broken up the House of God; and alfo all the dedicate Things of the Houfe of the Lord did they bestow upon Baalim.

Chap. xxv. 14. Now it came to pass, that after Amaziah was come from the Slaughter of the Edomites, that he brought the Gods of the Children of Seir, and fet them up TO BE

his Gods, and bowed down himself before them, and burned Incense to them.

2 Chron. xxxi. 1. He (Hezekiah) brake the Images in Pieces, cut down the Groves, and threw down the high Places, and the Altars, out of all Judah and Benjamin. Ibid. 2 Kings xviii. 4.

Chap. xxxiv. 4. And they brake down the Altars of Baalim, in his (Jofiah's) Prefence, and the Images (SUN-IMAGES) that WERE on high above them, he cut down, and the Groves, and the carved Images, and the molten Images he brake in Pieces, &c.

Ifai. xvii. 8. And he shall not look to the Altars, the Work of his Hands; neither shall respect THAT which his Fingers have made, either the Groves or the Images (or, SUNIMAGES.)

Chap. xxvii. 9. By this therefore fhall the Iniquity of Jacob be purged, and this is all the Fruit, to take away his Sin; when he maketh all the Stones of the Altar as ChalkStones THAT ARE beaten in funder, the Groves, and Images (or, SUN-IMAGES) ball not stand up.
