Might all the pow'r of Christ's atonement prove, And know the virtue of his dying love! 236.* T. 217. Since he now thro' his death & suff'ring Hath made an all-sufficient off'ring, Our debt is paid, and we may live; For Jesus sinners doth receive. 3 Now is his sympathizing heart A refuge for the most distressed; He freely pardon will impart ; By him their debt is quite erased. His blood like th'ocean without ground, Their sins hath swallow'd up & drown'd, The Holy Ghost to them is given, Who leads them in the path to heaven; And prompts them always to believe, That Jesus sinners doth receive. 4 They by the Father are esteem'd, When thus presented by our Saviour; Heal'd by his wounds, from sin redeem'd They prove the Father's love & favor; He owns them as his sons and heirs, And all he hath their own declares ; Eternal life they now inherit, Procur'd for them by Jesus' merit; He dwells in them, in him they live, Since Jesus sinners doth receive. Might all his loving heart but see, And know his bowels of compassion To sinners, straying carelessly, Or such as mourning seek salvation: Him, when on earth'midst sinners trace; Zaccheus takes his saving grace; He comforts Magd'len in affliction, Regards her tears and deep conviction, Her sins, tho' many, he forgives; My Saviour sinners receives. poor Behold how he with Peter dealt, Tho' deep his fall, he show'd him favor. 6 Not only when on earth he dwelt Was he a sin-forgiving Saviour; So is he still in exaltation. 7 Come, sinners, come, tho' vile and Wilt thou sin's drudge remain for ever, Come, weary, void of self-assistance; Tho' doubting, ready to despair, Come but to him without resistance. Behold his heart with love replete, Full of desire the worst to meet; Long hath he sought for you though 2 Who would still such mercy grieve? wretched, You to embrace, his arms outstretched: I, who was gen'rously invited." He saves whom nought else can relieve; My Saviour sinners doth receive. 10 Think not, “ 'tis time enough," nor say, "God who is gracious beyond mea sure; Shuts not the door of grace to-day; 11 Draw me, a sinner, unto thee, Thou sinner's Friend, thou gracious Saviour; Grant I, and all may ardently Sinners! hear instruction mild, Each become a little child; None that comes, need come in vain. 4 COME, ye sinners, poor and wretched He is willing; doubt no more. 2 Ho! ye needy, come and welcome; Come to Jesus Christ and buy. 3 Come, ye weary, heavy-laden, 4 Let not conscience make you linger, 6 Lo! th' incarnate God ascended None but Jesus :||: Can do helpless sinners good. 7 Saints and angels, join'd in concert, Sinners, here, may sing the same. 239. T. 591. SINNER, hear thy Saviour's call, Grace to save thee from thy fears; And wipe away thy tears. Wilt thou dread the Lamb of God, Hath shed his precious blood? 3 Think how on the cross he hung, Pierc'd with a thousand wounds! And ransom thee from woe.
