M. Baptism is the answer of a good conscience towards God, the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Ghost, which is shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour. Children may also be made partakers of this grace, For Christ hath said, “Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not, for of such is the kingdom of heaven." (Then the child which is to be baptized, is brought in, and the minister offers up a suitable prayer; or sings an appropriate verse ; for example:) T. 14. a. M. Baptism was instituted by our Lord Jesus Christ, who said unto his disciples, "Go ye, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost : teaching them to observe all things, whatsoever I have commanded you.” He annexed this proinise to it, “ He that believeth and is baptized, shall be saved.” By baptism we are made partakers of the forgiveness of and cleansing from sin, by the blood of Jesus Christ, who loved the church, and gave himself for it, that he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word. Our beauty is, our glorious dress; When in his presence we appear. Have they part in Christ our Saviour? They are objects of his favor; Heav'n is theirs assuredly. I verily believe it. M. Dost thou desire to be cleansed from sin in the blood of Jesus Christ, and to be buried into his death by holy baptism? Answer. That is my sincere desire. M. Dost thou desire to be embodied into the congregation of Christ, by holy baptism, which is the laver of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost, and in his kingdom to live under him and serve him, in eternal righteousness, innocence, and happiness ? Which by the spear was open'd wide, (During the last verse the candidate for baptism kneels down, and the folo lowing question is put to the Congregation :) M.
