Grace turned my wandering feet,
To tread the heavenly road,
And new supplies each hour I meet
While passing on to God.

Grace all the work shall crown
Thro' everlasting days:

It lays in heaven the topmost stone
And well deserves the praise

V.

I have loved thee with an everlasting love. Jer. 31..3.

Love mysterious, free, and great,

Nothing shall the same defeat;
Flowing from the Great I AM,
Sin its course shall never damn.

Jesus, full of truth and grace,
Ever lov'd his chosen race,
Long before creation's dawn
He embrac'd them as his own.

He hath lov'd them, dead in sin,
Given them quick'ning life within ;-
Glory to his sacred name

Jesu's love's a constant flame;

Hell may rage, and sin conspire,
All to quench this heav'nly fire;
To the end he loves them now,
Round his throne they'll surely bow.

Time revolving ne'er shall prove
When his saints he'll cease to love;
"Tis the same from age to age,
To His chosen heritage.

Tis a deep unfathom❜d sea,

Rising in the Deity;
From eternity it came,
To eternity the same.

VI..

"God is love."-1 John iv. 16.

THE King of kings, who reigns above,
The self-existent "God, is love;"
His essence, attributes, and name,
Boundless, unchanging love proclaim.

A depth unfathom'd, height unknown,-
A breadth unmeasur'd, like his throne,-
A length no finite hand can reach,-
A-sum, that angels cannot teach.

This theme shall angel tongues employ;
Here sinners find a source of joy;

While, thro' the Saviour's blood, they prove
This sacred truth, that "God is love."

VII.

"How precious is thy loving kindness" Ps. xxxvi. 7. Now, in a sweet exalted song

Let ransom'd mortals join,

To celebrate, with heart and tongue
Jehovah's love divine.

When he beheld the chosen race
All welt'ring in their gore,
Terrific frowns ne'er cloath'd his face,
Nor did his vengeance roar.

He turn'd his eyes to Jesus then,
And in his bosom saw

His dear delights, the sons of men.
Complete, without a flaw.

'Twas on this deep unfathom'd sea
That life by Jesus came;

He bore his people's sins away,
All glory to his name.

"Twas sin that nail'd him to the tree,
That thrust the fatal spear;
But love that made him sin to be-
Salvation centres there.

To Zion's Great Eternal King,
Who bled for worms below,
Let bright immortal spirits sing,
And praise unmeasur'd flow.

VIII.

Heb. vi. 17, 18, 19.

A DEBTOR to mercy alone,
Of covenant mercy I sing;
Nor fear with thy righteousness on,
My person and offerings to bring;

The terrors of law and of God,

With me can have nothing to do; My Saviour's obedience and blood Hide all my transgressions from view.

The work which his goodness began The arm of his strength will complete His promise is yea and Amen

And never was forfeited yet.

Nor future things nor what are now, Nor things here below nor above, Can make him his purpose forego, Can sever my soul from his love.

My name from the palms of his hands
Eternity will not erase;

Imprest on his heart it remains,
In marks of indelible grace.

Yes, I to the end shall endure,
As sure as the earnest is given;
More happy, but not more secure,
The glorified spirits in heaven.

IX.

1 Peter iii. 18.

JESUS hath suffer'd once for sin
And now exalted reigns;
Come then his glorious praise begin
In sweet harmonious strains.

No claims can law or justice crave
From Jesu's mystic bride;
Full payment to the law he gave,
When for her sins he died.
