Give praise to God on high, With angels round the throne: Give praise to God with joy, Glory to God alone. 'Tis meet his saints their songs should raise And give the Saviour endless praise. CCXCIV. Luke. ii. 13, 14. HARK! the herald angels sing, Hallelujah, Glory to the new-born king; Peace on earth, and mercy mild, God and sinners reconciled. Joyful all ye nations rise; Hallelujah, Who was born in Bethlehem. Veil'd in flesh the Godhead see, Hallelujah Hail the incarnate Deity! Christ by highest heaven adored, Christ the everlasting Lord. Mild he lays his glory by, Hall. Hail the heaven-born Prince of Peace, Hall. CCXCV. John xix. 30. IT is finished-all is over- None but Jesus could have gained. That which Prophets long predicted, Only shadowed, not effected, So the dying Saviour cries. Thus redemption was completed, Here our hope still rests unmoved. Jesus bears a matchless name. CCXCVII. "He said, it is finished."-John xix. 30. HARK! the voice of love and mercy, Was the Saviour's dying cry. Hear the Lord himself declaring, Jesus speaks it! His are faithful words and true. Justice from her awful station, Now display their boundless store. It is finished, sinners hear it, Tell it through the earth and sky. Tune your harps anew, ye seraphs, Join to sing the pleasing theme; All'on earth, and all in heaven, Join to praise Immanuel's name. Hallelujah ; Glory to the bleeding Lamb! CCXCVII. "We did esteem Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted."-Isaiah lii. 4, 5. STRICKEN, Smitten, and afflicted, Mark the sacrifice appointed; Here we have a firm foundation; Lamb of God for sinners wounded, None shall ever be confounded Who on Thee their hopes have built. |
