Hail Him, ye heirs of David's line,
Whom David Lord did call;
Extol the stem of Jesse's root,
And crown him Lord of all.

Hail Him ye Gentiles whom his blood,
Redeems from sin and thrall;
Hail him who saves you by his grace,
And crown him Lord of all.

Hail Him, every tribe and tongue,
Throughout this earthly ball;
Hail God-incarnate, man divine
Thou crowned Lord of all..

Rev. v. 1.

Who shall the Father's record search,.
And hidden things reveal?
Behold the Lamb that record takes,
And opens every seal.

Lion of Judah's tribe is he,

And root of David too,

The worthy all-prevailing Lamb,

We sing in praises new.

Thou hast redeemed us by thy blood,
To God, and made us free,

Hast made us kings and priests to him,
To reign on earth with thee.

From out of every tribe and tongue,
Thou hast a chosen race,

Redeemed and saved, each land has shared
The riches of thy grace.

ascribed

To thee be might and power
Thy body's glorious head;
Salvation, wisdom, glory, praise,
To thee be ever paid.

Ps. viii. 9, 16.-Ps. iv. 8, 10.

How sweet the name of Jesus sounds,
In a believer's ear;

It sooths his sorrows, heals his wounds,
And drives away his fear.

It makes the wounded spirit whole
And calms the troubled breast;
'Tis manna to the hungry soul,
And to the weary rest.

Dear name! the rock on which I build,
My shield and hiding place;
My never falling treasury, filled
With boundless stores of grace,

Jesus! my Shepherd, Husband, Friend,
My Prophet, Priest, and King;
My Lord, my Life, my Way, my End,
Accept the praise I bring,

XLIX.

Jeremiah x. 16.

"JACOB'S portion is the Lord,"
What can Jacob more require;
What can heaven more afford,
What a creature more desire ?

Jacob shall not now wax pale,
His is sure a pleasant lot,
Jacob's portion cannot fail,

'Tis the Lord who changes not.

Others may their Gods display,
Tell what pleasures they afford;
Jacob smiles at all they say,
Jacob's portion is the Lord.

Heaven and earth shall pass away,
Sinners with their idols fall;
Jacob shall survive that day,
Jacob's God is Lord of all.

Happy Jacob, fear not thou,
Triumph when the Lord appears;
He who is thy portion now,
Will be thine thro' endless years.

Matt. v. 3.

BLESSED are the poor in spirit,
Who their native vileness see,
They are taught all sin's demerit,
Gladly own salvation free,
And from Sinai

To the wounds of Jesus flee.

Stript of all their fancied meetness,
To approach the Dread I AM;
They are led to see all fitness
Cent'ring in the Worthy Lamb;
And, adoring,

Sing his Godhead, blood, and name,

Self-renouncing, grace admiring, Made unto salvation wise, Matchless love their bosoms firing. Oh! how sweet their songs arise! None but Jesus,

From his blood their hopes arise.

Clad with righteousness imputed,
Now they cast their rags away;
Tis to ev'ry sinner suited,

Let his wants be what they may;
Jesus, dying,

Bore the curse and sin away.

At his throne their sins confessing, Now in shame they veil their face, Weeping, loving, praising, blessing, On his head the crown they place; Shouting glory

To the God of sov'reign grace.

LI.

Gal. ii. 16.

Not all the boasted deeds

Of creature righteousness, Could justify before our God, Or e er one sinner bless.
