The same returns stated,

"In the Overseas field we have 34 missionaries and 2 Bible women under the Dominion Board, 2 new Missionaries having gone out during the year. In the Canadian field there are 31 missionaries and 36 workers. In addition to the Bible women and Children supported through the Dominion Board, some of the Diocesan Boards still provide support for individual agents, and children, Overseas. 35 Biblewomen are reported this year, 8 being in China, 24 in India, 3 in Central Africa. Of the 156 children, 45 are in China, IIO in India, one in Persia. Of the above, 2 Bible Women and 24 Children are in Honan and 29 children in Kangra

33. Of the training of Candidates for work in Canada and Overseas, and of the work of the Literature Department, the 1923 report says;

"During the year 12 Candidates have received training under the United Thankoffering Fund, 5 for Overseas, and 7 for Canadian Missions. Of these, 6 have been accepted as missionaries and appointed to various fields, viz., 2 to Mid-Japan, 3 to Indian Schools and I to Jewish work. Two Candidates in training were withdrawn on account of ill-health. 3 applications for Indian work were approved by the Candidates Committee but were given appointments as "workers" to fill emergency vacancies. 6 New Candidates begin their training this Fall, 3 for Overseas, 3 for Canadian work, I going to Japan to train for work among the Japanese in British Columbia. There are 10 candidates at present in training under the United Thankoffering, with 4 still under consideration.

The work of the Literature Department has been of a most encouraging nature. There is a growing interest in missionary information and a ready sale for books and pamphlets. The Woman's Auxiliary published 30,000 forms of printed matter during the year. The Letter Leaflet, under its new title "The Living Message”, has emerged bigger and more attractive, and, it is hoped,more helpful than ever. Four more pages have been added, and this, together with the re-arrangement of reading matter, and their handsome two colored cover, and numerous interesting illustrations, has drawn forth many expressions of approval and appreciation from the Woman's Auxiliary Members, and others. The actual circulation now stands at 21,220."

34. Under the heading of "Education of children of Missionaries" the 1921 report states "thirty-three children have been educated this year"; the 1922 report says that "thirty-four children were accepted for education privileges".
