God, to the confusion of our nation this prophesy of blindness, deafness, ignorance and obduracy, remain unabated until this day, according to the testimony of your servant Moses, our law-giver, in the following words ; “And the Lord thy God shall raise you up a prophet of your own brethren like unto me, him shall you hear, and it shall come to pass, that every foul that will not hear that prophet to do whatfoever he commandeth them, shall be cut off from his people.” The completion of these prophecies is evidenced and have been verified from the destruction of our temple and city. And, according to our prophet Daniel 9th chapter, (before Christ 534 years) for rejecting and putting to death the Messiah. This heavy malediction should remain in our nation, and points out the time of this bloody catastrophe disclosed by the angel Gabriel.
490 years before Christ. Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people, and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to feal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy. Know, therefore, and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Meffiah the Prince shall be feven weeks, and threescore and two weeks; the street shall be built again, and the wall even in troublous times; and after threescore and two weeks shall Mefliah be cut off, but not for himself; and the people of thę prince (the Romans under Ticus) thar fhalí
come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof fhall be with a flood, and to the end of the war desolations are determined; and he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week, and in the midst of the week he shall cause the facrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined, shall be poured upon the desolate.
Boy. Before Christ 520 years. In the seventh month, in the one and twentieth day (second year of Darius) came the word of the Lord by the prophet Haggai, saying, Speak now to Zerubbabel, son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua, the son of Josedech, the high-priest, and to the residue of the people, saying, Who is left among you that saw this house in her first glory? is it not in your eyes in comparison of it as nothing? yet, now be strong, o Zerubbabel, saith the Lord; and be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the highpriest; and be strong, all ye people of the land, faith the Lord, and work; for I am with you, faith the Lord of Hofts, according to the word that I covenanted with you when ye came out of Egypt; so my spirit remaineth among you, fear ye not.
For thus faith the Lord of Hofts, Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens and the earth, and the fun, and the dry land ; and I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come, and I will fill this house with glory, faith the Lord of Hoits. The Silver is mine, and the gold is
mine, saith the Lord of Hosts. The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, faith the Lord of Holts; and in this place will I give peace; saith the Lord of Hofts. Ezra 6th chapter. These are your words, O Lord; your temple was built and finished on the third day of the month Adar, which was in the sixth year of Darius the king, and sacrifice was offered for the space of five hundred years, until it was destroyed by the Romans under Titus. In this temple, O my God, you fulfilled and accomplished your determined decree, promised man at the fall of our first parents, made sure to Abraham that in his feed all the nations of the earth should be blessed, you were pleased, my Lord, to transmit your blesfing to Isaac, and after him to Jacob, you then continued it in the tribe of Judah, until David ; him you appointed (a poor sheep boy) king over all Israel, seated him on the throne of majesty, and crowned him with the diadem, placing in his hand the royal sceptre, and with him confirmed an everlasting covenant ordered in all things and sure. O O my Lord, you not only crowned him with royalty by making him king, but you have raised and dignified him with the exalted title of royal propher. His psalms are the inestimable treasure of your goodness, in them the prophecies are set forth, what was to be accomplished one thousand years after, your divinity, humanity, abjection, sufferings, rejection, death, resurrection; ascension, triumphantly seated on the right-hand of the infinire Majesty, reprobation of your enemies, and eter
nal felicity of the Elect. The Psalmist prophe: cies also of the christian facrifice and office of priesthood in the new covenant, after the fimilitude of Melchifedech, whose offering was bread and wine. From this æra, the prophets, heralds, of thee, O Great King and Lord of the Universe, proclaim the great day of salvation, in which you would manifest yourself in human Aesh taken from a virgin. (Before Christ 742.) 17th chapter of Isaiah. “Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel, that is, God with us.” 9th chap. “ For unto us a child is born, a son is given ; and the government shall be upon his shoulder; and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David and upon his kingdom to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice, from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of Hosts will perform this.” St. Luke ift. chapter. “And in the sixth month from the conception of St. John the Baptist, the angel Gabriel was sent from God into a city of Galilee, called Nazareth, to a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. And the angel being come in, said to her: Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blefied arc thou among women. And when she had heard, she was troubled at his saying, and thought with herself, what manner of falutation this hould be. And the angel said to her : Fear not,
Mary, for thou hast found grace with God. Bez hold, thou shall conceive in thy womb, and shall bring forth a fon; and thou shalt call his name Jetus. He shall be great, and shall be called the son of the Most High; and the Lord God shall give unco Him the throne of David his father, and he shall reign in the house of Jacob for ever. And of bis kingdom there shall be no end. And Mary said to the angel: How Shall this be done, because I know noe man ? And the angel answering, said to her; The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Most High fhall over-thadow thee; and therefore the Holy which shall be born of thee, shall be called the Son of God. And, kehold, thy cousin Elizabeth she hath also conceived a son in her old age; and this is the fixth month with her that is called barren, because no word shall be impossible with God. And Mary said; · Behold the hand-maid of the Lord, be it done to me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.” Isaiah 40th chap. " Comfort ve, comfort ye my people, faith your God; speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned; for she hath received of the Lord's band, double for all her fins. The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the desart a high way for our God. Every valley fhall be exalted, and every mountain and hill fall be made low; and the crooked shall be made ftraight, and the rough places plain. And the glory of the Lord fhall te re
