The ARGUMENT

Of the Altar of Burnt-offering, and its Horns and Uten fils. Of the Court of the Tabernacle, and its dimen fions. Of the Oil for the Lamp.

ND thou shalt make an altar of hittim-wood: five cubits long, and five cubits broad the altar fhall be fourSquare, and the height thereof fhall be three cubits.

2. And thou shalt make the horns of it upon the four corners. thereof his horns fhall be of the fame and thou shalt overlay it with brass.

2. The Horns of it: These were certain Spires proceeding out of the Altar, which were hollow, (fays

of the four corners

Maimon) and each of them five hand-breadths high. [Beth Habbeth. c. 2. They may be well fuppofed not onely for Ornament, but for Life alfo. And befides the keeping the Sacrifice from falling off, it hath been thought (from Pfal 118. 27.) they were fet up, that the Sacrifice might be tied and faftned to them, the better to prevent the falling of it.'

16. And for the gate of the court, fhall be an hanging of twenty cubits, of blue, and purple, and Scarlet and fine twined linen wrought with needle-work and their pillars fhall be four, and their

16. Twenty cubits: Thefe with the two Fifteens (v. 14, 15.) on each fide, made up the fifty Cubits, (v. 12.)
