Convicted of inciting Hannah Gray, a simple girl, to fire her master's hay-stacks. It appears that her husband had the care of the Pinfold or Pound at Lotherton. Some of Mr. Marshall's foals having been impounded there, she demanded a payment of fourpence on delivering them to him. This was refused; and she vowed vengeance against him, even if she were hanged for it on the following day. She then persuaded the girl Gray to commit the offence described by the promise of a new frock: this the girl gave in evidence. Highway robbery.

Convicted, at the age of seventeen, and the height of 4ft., 83in., of the murder of a gentleman, aged sixty

seven.

A poacher, convicted of the murder of a gamekeeper.

was possibly insane. His was the
first private execution within the
Castle walls.

Murder, from spite-passion.
A hardened criminal, who at the
time of the murder was under
police supervision, having pre-
viously been convicted of stealing
a money-box from a chapel in
Ireland, and been sentenced to
seven years' penal servitude.
Murder, for the purpose of obtain-
ing a watch valued at 50s., an
amount which the prisoner pos-
sessed upon his person at the time
of committing the offence.
