Esq. Lancaster herald of arms. In the Savoy, printed for the author 1677. f. (M. 202). Während eis ner Krankheit des Verfassers, bearbeitete Gregory King ei nen Theil des Textes vom 4ten Buche an. Plan und Ausführung des Werkes sind vortrefflich, die Kupfertafeln find von den besten Künstlern der Zeit, mehre von Hollar gc= stochen, und die Anmerkungen enthalten reiche Belehrung über die Wappen der Könige, der Prinzen und des Adels. Obgleich das Werk vor einer neuen Ausgabe sehr selten war, so hat sie doch an Werth verloren, wird aber dennoch der /beffern Kupferabdrücke wegen nach Lo. IV, 1615 noch mit 1 L.

S. 531. Nr. 2966 a. Die magna charta selbst ist mit dem Titel: Magna charta regis Johannis 15 die Junii 1715. anno regni 17. London apud Joh. Whittaker 1816. sehr gr. 4. auf 12 Blatt pergamentartigen Papieres mit Gold gez druckt. (8 L. 8 S. Br. II, 404. Und nach Br. n. r. II, 347. giebt es von diesem Prachtwerke Abdrücke auf Pergament mit hinzugefügten drei andern Blåttern, conventio inter regem Johannem et barones, nebst mannichfaltigen Verzierungen auf besondern Blåttern, und er beschreibt einen mit großen Koften von de Corbiere für die königliche Bibliothek zu Paris erlangten besonders kostbaren Abdruck, bestehend in 21 Blåts tern, welche außer mehren sehr merkwürdigen Kleingemåhlden, Bildnissen, reichen Einfassungen, die Wappenfahnen von 25 Baronen, die mit dem Könige Johann unterhandels ten, und eine Menge abwechselnder Verzierungen enthalten. Ban Pract hat davon eine umständliche Beschreibung im 6ten Bande seines catalogue des livres imprimés sur velin de la bibliotheque du roy p. 172 177 gegeben. Die Beschreibung eines andern nicht weniger kostbaren, aber sehr verschiedenen Abbruckes findet man in Aedes Althorp. I, 207

Wie M. 360 diese Ausgabe als die zweite aufführen könne, ist nicht wohl abzusehen, wenn die vorhergehende von 1735 nicht gleichsam als ein neues Werk, worin die Zusäße und Supplemente zu den frühern zu einem einzigen Ganzen verarbeitet worden sind, betrach tet wird. Zu dieser neuen Ausgabe erschien aber auch: A supplement to the four volumes of the peerage of England. Containing a succession of the peers from 1740, with accounts of those that have been promoted to higher titles. And a genealogical history of all the families since advanced to the peerage of this kingdom. Their births, marriages and issues, places of burial and epitaphs, with memoirs of their famous actions, and employments, both
