While I draw this fleeting breath,
When my eye-strings break in death,
When I rise, and by thee known,
Meet thee on thy glorious throne,
Rock of ages, cleft for me,
I will hide myself in thee.

"The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the rightsous runneth into it and is safe.-Prov. xviii. 10.

JESUS, lover of my soul,

May I to thy bosom fly,
While the waters near me roll,.
While the tempest still is nigh.

Hide me, O my Saviour, hide,
Till the storin of life is past;
Safe into the haven guide;
O receive my soul at last!

Thou, O Christ, art all I want;

More than all in thee I find:
Raise the fallen, cheer the faint,
Heal the sick, and lead the blind.

Just and holy is thy name,
I am all unrighteousness:
Vile, and full of sin I am,
Thou art full of truth and grace.

Other refuge I have none;

Hangs my helpless soul on thee; Leave, ah! leave me not alone, Still support and comfort me.

All my trust on thee is stayed,
All mine help from thee I bring;
Cover my defenceless head

With the shadow of thy wing.

Plenteous grace with Thee is found,
Grace to pardon all my sin;
Let the healing stream abound;
Make and keep me pure within.

Thou of life the fountain art; Freely let me take of Thee; Spring Thou up within mine heart; Rise to all eternity.

2 Tim. iv. 6.

My race is run, my warfare's o'er,
The solemu hour is nigh;
When offered up to God my soul
Shall wing its flight away.

With heavenly weapons I have fought,
The battles of the Lord;
Finished my course and kept the faith,
Depending on his word.

Henceforth there is laid up for me
A crown which cannot fade;
The righteous Judge on that great day,
Shall place it on mine head.

Nor hath my gracious Lord decreed,

A crown for me alone;
But for all such as love like me,
The appearing of the Son.

From every snare and evil work,
His grace shall me defend;
And to his heavenly kingdom safe,
Shall bring me in the end.

Job xxix. 2.

OH! for a closer walk with God,
A calm and heav'nly frame;
A light to shine upon the road
That leads me to the Lamb!

Where is the blessedness I knew,
When fir t I saw the Lord?
Where is the soul-refreshing view
Of Jesus, and his word?

What peaceful hours I once enjoy'd How sweet their mem ry still! But they have let an aching void, The world can never fill.

Return, O holy Dove, return,
Sweet messenger of rest;

I hate the sins that made thee mourn,
And drove thee from my breast.

The dearest idol I have known,
Whate'er that idol be,

Tear it, dear Jesus, from thy throne,
And make me worship thee.

So shall my walk be close with God,
Calm and serene my frame;
So purer light shall mark the road
That leads me to the Lamb.

Rom. v. 5.

COME, holy Spirit, heav'nly Dove,
With all thy quick'ning pow'rs;

Kindle a flame of sacred love
In these cold hearts of ours.

See how we grovel here below,
Fond of these earthly toys!
Our souls, how heavily they go,
To reach eternal joys!

In vain we tune our lifeless songs,
In vain we strive to rise:
Hosannahs languish on our tongues,
And our devotion dies.

Come, holy Spirit, heav'nly Dove,

With all thy quick ning pow'rs; Come, shed abroad a Saviour's love, And that shall kindle ours.
