Summer Lectures.-To add to the many facilities afforded to the student who may be able to attend in the interval between the winter courses of lectures, a summer course has been instituted, which is conducted by members of the Faculty and others. The course begins early in April, and continues, with a recess in July and August, until the commencement of the winter session. The clinical department is illustrated at the College, Wills Hospital, and the Philadelphia and Pennsylvania Hospitals, by members of the Association, during their terms of service at these institutions. The course is of a practical character, and embraces important specialties in medicine and surgery, but does not count as a "session" of lectures. During the summer months, the student has the opportunity of going through the wards of the hospitals, and of gaining much additional information, which want of time during the winter months renders difficult of attainment. A Dispensary Service, in connection with the Regular Clinic on Fridays, has been established at the College, at 1 o'clock, daily, for the gratuitous treatment of the poor who have diseases of the Eye and Ear. Ewing Mears bestows special attention upon Candidates for the Medical Service of the Army or Navy. Dr. Wm. H. Greene gives instructions in Practical Chemistry at the Laboratory of the Jefferson Medical College. The course embraces Elementary Chemistry and Analysis, especial attention being paid to Poisons and to examinations of the Urine. Dr. Thomson, on the Eye, room rear of College, on Thursday evenings, 8 o'clock. Dr. O. P. Rex gives a Course on Physical Diagnosis, at 1004 Medical Street, Tuesday evenings. Dr. J. C. Wilson, Auscultation and Percussion, Tuesdays and Saturdays, at 73 P. M., 214 S. 15th Street. Dr. Stanley Smith, on Auscultation and Percussion, Fridays, 7 P. M., 210 S 12th Street. Courses of instruction in Practical Medical Chemistry are given by Dr. Henry Leffmann, at his Laboratory, No. 1004 Medical St., west from 10th, above Walnut Street. Dr. W. H. Warder gives a Course of Lectures at the Quiz Room, No. 1004 Medical Street, on Diseases of the Uterus. Dr. Hamilton Osgood gives a Course, at the Chant St room, on Physical Diagnosis. Dr. Morris Longstreth gives a Course on Pathological Anatomy, Wednesdays, 7 P. M., on Butler Avenue. Alumni Association of the Jefferson Medical College of Philadelphia. The objects of this Association are the promotion of the prosperity of the Jefferson Medical College, the offering of prizes, the publishing of meritorious theses, the endowment of scholarships for the free medical education at the College of the sons of Alumni whose means are limited, the collection of anatomical and pathological specimens for the College museum, the maintenance and cultivation of good feeling among the Alumni, and, above all, the advancement of the interests of medical education, and the diffusion of sound medical knowledge. The members of the Association are the graduates and professors of the Jefferson Medical College. Any graduate in good standing in the profession may become a member. The Trustees of the College, and its graduates, as well as the alumni of other recognized institutions, are eligible to honorary membership The annual contribution is one dollar, and, when first paid, constitutes the entrance fee to the Association. Any member who has paid his annual subscription for five years, or who has paid the sum of five dollars, becomes a life member, and receives a certificate, or diploma, of life membership, and is exempt from all further dues. The Association meets annually, on the day previous to the Annual Commencement of the College.
