OP VOCAL AND INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC, AS PERFORMED AT THE MUSIC ROOM, OXFORD, From October, 1807, to October, 1808. TO WHICH IS ANNEXED, A LIST OF THE SUBSCRIBERS, STEWARDS, AND PERFORMERS. Drford: PRINTED FOR PHILIP JUNG, By Messrs. DAWSON and Co. High-Street. 174. 1808. д 106 ΤΟ THE STEWARDS OF THE MUSIC ROOM. GENTLEMEN, MUSIC being a branch of Education, encouraged in all the Universities of the World, and particularly at Oxford, where there is a Professorship annexed to it, I take this opportunity to address myself to you, whose exertions in behalf of the Music Room deserve the greatest acknowledgment, not only from Professional People, but also from every Lover of Harmony. It is too well known that your predecessors, as well as yourselves, have, with great trouble, and without any emolument, supported the Music Room, the institution of which has to boast of an existence of more than half a century. As its success has been considerably impeded by the badness of the times, and not for want of your exertions, it is to be hoped you will not relinquish a cause in which you have so nobly embarked: and as it is the wish of the Performers to assist as much as it lies in their power in hopes of better times, I trust you will promote the interest of the Music Room, and the welfare of the Performers, who have sacrificed a considerable part of their time in its service. I am, Your most obedient servant, PHILIP JUNG. A LIST OF THE SUBSCRIBERS. HIS GRACE THE DUKE OF PORTLAND, CHANCELLOR, THE RIGHT HON. LORD ELDON, HIGH STEWArd. THE REV. THE VICE-CHANCEllor.
