PREFACE.

THE

HE present volume of AMERICAN BOOK-PRICES CURRENT records 8562 items from 110 sales of books and autographs at auction. These 110 catalogues represented 215 days' sales, and comprised upwards of 80,000 lots, of which only about one tenth find a record in our compilation. Periodicals will, for the most part, be found under their titles, in a few cases under the name of their editor. Some translations are entered under the name of the translator instead of the author, being most likely to be sought for under that head. Different books by the same author are, for the most part, arranged alpha
